[DESCRIPTION]
[TITLE]
COMPOSITION FOR LIP COSMETICS
[TECHNICAL FIELD]
The present invention relates to a composition for lip cosmetics, and
more particularly to a composition for lip cosmetics which can be used as a raw
material for lip cosmetics such as a lip cream, lip gloss, lipstick, etc.
[BACKGROUND ART]
Lips are the parts of a human's body which largely moves more than any
other parts, and they are significantly affected by environmental factors such as
the atmospheric condition or the weather condition because they are exposed to
the outside all the time. Especially, in terms of the structure of the lips, they don't
have any sebum layers unlike other general skin structures, and their horny
layers are extremely thin, so that the absolute amounts of the natural
moisturizing factor and water are insufficient and the evaporation of water goes
on very fast. Accordingly, the lip cosmetics, unlike other general cosmetics, need
to have the functions of maintaining the lip tissues to be resilient and healthy
and curing the lips and allowing them to recover when the skin of lips are
damaged.
Up to now, as the lip cosmetics which provide the functions, various
products such as a lipstick, lip gloss, lip cream, etc. have been developed, and
the lip gloss will be mainly described in connection with the present invention.
The object of a lip gloss is generally to give a bight shine to the lips or
maintain them to be moist, and the composition of the lip gloss consists of
waxes to maintain the solid shape of them, various kinds of oil and pigments, etc.
In addition, ingredients of the ointment type such as polybutene, lanolin,
Vaseline, etc. are used to increase application properties and glossy properties
in use on lips.
In case of the lip gloss of a solid type, however, since alcohol or animal,
vegetable or mineral waxes functioning as an oily hardening agent for the
purpose of the properties of the product and the stability under high temperature
are used, there are defects that it is difficult to represent clear colors because
the lip gloss is not transparent but turbid, and the feeling in use is not smooth if a
lot of waxes are used. In addition, if waxes and oil are mixed and used, it is
liable to cause the separation phenomenon and the sweating phenomenon of oil
under high temperature, and the ingredient of the ointment type such as
polybutene gives the sticky feeling in use.
In order to solve the above problems, a composition for a lip gloss
(hereafter, referred to as "known composition 1") capable of representing clear
colors due to its excellent transparency and having excellent stability under high
temperature as well as giving excellent feeling without stickiness, including a
dextrin fatty acid ester and ester- or hydrocarbon-based liquid oil is disclosed in
Korea Patent Application Laying-open No. 2000-0044976.
Further, a composition for a lip gloss (hereafter, referred to as "known
composition 2") having excellent stability under high temperature and excellent
transparency and glossy properties which last for a long time as well as giving
excellent feeling, including ester- or hydrocarbon-based liquid oil, polybutene,
phenyl dimethicone with a dextrin fatty acid ester being used as a main oil
stabilizer is disclosed in Korea Patent Application Laying-open No. 2001-
0046261.
In both the above known compositions 1 and 2, however, their function
of allowing the skin to recover and moisture retention is insufficient, and they
cannot make the lips themselves large. In addition, they are not greatly effective
to dry skin.
[DISCLOSURE OF INVENTION]
In order to solve the above problems, it is an object of the present
invention to provide a composition for lip cosmetics capable of promoting blood
supply to lips.
In addition, it is another object of the present invention to provide a
composition for lip cosmetics capable of allowing damaged lips to quickly
recover by promoting blood current and increasing the resilience of cells and
tissues so as to maintain natural and healthy lips.
In addition, it is further another object of the present invention to provide
a composition for lip cosmetics with an excellent gloss.
In addition, it is further another object of the present invention to provide
a composition for lip cosmetics with a moisture retention function so as to
maintain moist and soft lips.
In addition, it is further another object of the present invention to provide
a composition for lip cosmetics capable of allowing damaged lips to quickly
recover.
In addition, it is further another object of the present invention to provide
a composition for lip cosmetics capable of preventing the skin of lips from aging
and having a recovery effect of the skin of lips.
In order to achieve the above objects, a composition for lip cosmetics
contains esculin and lactic acid. In addition, the composition may contain esculin,
lactic acid and glycolic acid.

[BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION]
Hereinafter, the present invention will now be described in detail.
It is known that esculin which is an effective ingredient of the present
invention has the function of promoting blood current and increasing the
movement of capillary vessels. Accordingly, when a composition for lip
cosmetics containing esculin is applied to lips, blood supply to the lips is
improved, so that resilient lips are maintained, and the recovery of damaged lips
can be promoted. In addition, the lips appear to be clear because they become
large, so that beautiful lips can be maintained.
And lactic acid which is another effective ingredient of the present
invention is now generally produced with its raw material of starch or sugar by
the fermentation method. Since lactic acid is an antioxidative material and has
an excellent moisture retention function, it absorbs water in air. Therefore, when
a composition for lip cosmetics containing lactic acid is applied to lips, water in
the lips is sufficiently retained, so the lips can be prevented from aging, and it
also works in wrinkle prevention.
In addition, glycolic acid which is further another ingredient of the
present invention is a naturally produced material coming from a sugar cane,
and can be purchased commercially. Glycolic acid is relatively safe to a human's
body, and it works to revive the skin by synthesizing collagen as well as to
prevent skin aging. Its moisture retention effect is rather weaker than lactic acid,
and it promotes the lip's skin metabolism. Accordingly, when a composition for
lip cosmetics containing glycolic acid is applied to lips, the metabolism of the lips
is promoted, so that the skin cells of the lips are quickly revived, and the
recovery cycle can be short.
The above effective ingredients are used being mixed with a base
material which mainly consists of polybutene and liquid paraffin.
Particularly, it is preferable that the composition of lip cosmetics
according to the present invention should contain esculin of approximately 0.2 to
1.5 wt% and lactic acid of approximately 1 to 5 wt% in the base material.
Moreover, if the composition further contains glycolic acid, it preferably
contains glycolic acid of approximately 0.5 to 5 wt%.
Meanwhile, the composition of this invention may further contain acetic
acid tocopherol and/or meadowfoam seed oil, whereby it has the additional
effect of maintaining the moist and soft skin for a long time by preventing the
skin from being horny or rough.
In addition, the composition of this invention may further contain
allantoin and/or linseed oil, whereby it has the additional effect of allowing
damaged lips to quickly recover by promoting blood current and increasing the
resilience of cells and tissues so as to maintain natural and healthy lips.
Hereafter, the present invention will be described in further detail by way
of examples, but the present invention is not limited to these examples.
Examples 1 to 3 and comparative examples 1 to 6: Production of
composition for cosmetics
Compositions were produced as follows in accordance with the
composition ratios present in Table 1. After the materials shown in Table 1 had
been mixed well with a base material generally used, they were stirred under
normal temperature until they became completely even ointments.

Experimental example 1: Evaluation of improvement effects on shape
and color of lips
The quality evaluation was performed in accordance with the following
criteria on the compositions produced by the example 1.
1. Effect of clearing the shape of lips: Apply the compositions to the
surfaces of lips uniformly and compare the degrees of clearness of the shapes
of lips when a predetermined time lapses before and after application.
2. Effect of clearing the color of lips: Apply the compositions to the
surfaces of lips uniformly and compare the degrees of clearness of the colors of
lips when a predetermined time lapses before and after application.
Here, Figs. 1 and 3 are pictures of the lips of first and second testees
photographed before the compositions of this invention are applied, and Figs. 2
and 4 are pictures of the lips of the first and second testees photographed when
a predetermined time (e.g. approximately 30 minutes) lapses after the
compositions of this invention are applied.
Experimental example 2: Comparison of improvement effects on shape
and color of lips
The improvement effects on the shape and color of the lips by the
compositions produced according to the examples were measured and
compared. After one of the compositions of the examples 1 to 3 was applied to
the upper lip of a testee of each of 6 testee groups, which were randomly
organized from 40 women of 20s to 50s, whereas one of the compositions of the
comparative examples 1 to 6 was applied to the upper lip thereof, the degrees of
improvement of the shape and color of the lips were represented by a numerical
range of 0 (bad) to 5 (good) when 30 minutes lapsed, and then they were
averaged.
[Table 2]
As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 and Table 2, it was confirmed that the lips of
the testees when a predetermined time lapses after applied with the
compositions of this invention become large in volume and were clear in terms
of their outlines as blood supply to the lips increased. Accordingly, it is found that
the compositions of this invention have the excellent properties of making the
shape and color of lips clear as lip cosmetics.
Experimental example 3: Measurement of moisture retention effect
The moisture retention effect of the compositions produced according to
the examples was measured. After one of the compositions of the examples 1 to
3 was applied to the upper lip of a testee of each of 6 testee groups, which were
randomly organized from 40 women of 20s to 50s, whereas one of the
compositions of the comparative examples 1 to 6 was applied to the upper lip
thereof, the degrees of moisture retention of the lips were represented by a
numerical range of 0 (dry) to 5 (moist) when 30 minutes lapsed, and then they
were averaged.
[Table 3]
As shown in Table 3, it is found that the compositions for lip cosmetics of
this invention are excellent in terms of the moisture retention effect on lips.
Although the present invention has been described by way of exemplary
