Description

J. ROCCA TOILET KIT Oc't. 13, 1942.
Filed Sept. 8, 1941 OO OO IN V EN TOR.
ATI'DRNEYS Patented Oct. 13 1942 OFFICE 'rorm'r m John Rocca, Graterford, Pa. Application september s, 1941,seria1No. 410,104 (clim-s4) 4 Claims.
This invention relates to improvements in toilet kits.
The object of the invention is to provide a container having a compartment for a tooth brush and a compartment for paste or powder and closed by a single cover so arranged that the upper end of the brush and the paste or powder container will extend above the main body of the container so that they may be readily gripped and removed from the container.
Another object of the invention is to provide means in the paste tube compartment for supporting the tube as the paste is used in such a position that the upper end thereof will at all times be above the upper end of the container, so that it may be readily gripped and removed from the container.
A further object of the invention is to /provide a compact container of this character which is simple in construction, cheaply manufactured and having certain' details of structure and 1combination of parts hereinafter more Yfully set forth.
In the accompanying drawing,
, Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view of my improved container;
Figure 2 is an end view;
Figure 3 is a vertical sectional view, taken on the line 3-3 of Figure 1;
Figure 4 is a horizontal sectional view, taken on the line 4-4 of Figure 1;
Figure 5 is a horizontal sectional view similar to Figure 4, showing a tooth powder receptacle in the container;
Figure 6 is a perspective view of a tooth powder container to be used in the form shown in Figure 5 of the drawing.
Referring now to the drawing, I represents an elongated container having arranged therein two spaced cylindrical compartments 2 and 3, closed at their lower ends and open at the top. Pivoted to the upper end of the container, at 4, is a saucer-shaped cover 5 held in closed position by means of a spring clip 6 and forms a space 'I above the container for a. purpose hereinafter set forth. The lower end of the compartment 3 is provided with Ventilating openings 8 and 9. The compartment 3 is adapted to receive a tooth brush I0, having a knob II at its upper end and is of the form shown in my application for a patent executed of even date herewith. 'I'he compartment 2 has in one wall thereof a vertically disposed slot I2, extending nearly the entire length of the container. One wall of this slot I2 is notched, as indicated at I3, for the purpose cillating said follower and having against rotation in the compartment, a stud that, when the co'ver 5 of holding a follower in later to be described.
Arranged within the lower end of the compartment 2 is a follower I4, of circular form, and provided at its outer periphery with a spring I5 adapted to enter a vertical groove I6 in the wall of the compartment. One side of the follower I4 is'provided with an upwardly extending arm I6', to which is rigidly connected an outwardly extending stud I'I passing through the slot I2, and has at its outer end an operating knob I8. The spring I 5 is so arranged on the follower to hold the same in a position with the stud I1 in one of the notches I3, whereby the follower will be .held in any of its vertically adjusted positions. By this structure, it will be seen that, as the paste tube is rolled at its lower end, thefollower is moved upwardly to bring or main*- tain the cap I9 of the paste tube 20 Within the space 'I in the cover 5.
In the modification shown in Figures 5 and 6, the compartment 3 is arranged the same as that of the preferred form. 'I'he compartment 2| is of. a particular shape to receive the tooth powder container 22, which is provided with a discharge opening 23, closed by a sliding valve 24.
From the foregoing description, it will be seen Y is swung open, the knob II of the tooth brush, and the cap I9 of the paste tube extend above the upper end of the container and can be readily gripped and removed therefrom.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- 1. A toilet kit, comprising a body portion having an open ended compartment therein, a follower in said compartment, spring means for oscillating said follower, a stud carried by the follower and extending through a slot in the wall of the compartment and c o-operating with one Wall of the slot for holding the follower in its vertically adjustable position.
2. A toilet kit, comprising a body portion having an open ended compartment therein, a folits adjusted position,
. lower in said compartment, spring means for oscillating said follower, a stud carried by the follower and extending through a slot in the wall of the compartment and co-operating with notches in the slot for holding the follower in its vertically adjustable position.
3. A toilet kit, comprising a body portion having an open ended compartment therein'a follower in said compartment, spring means for osone end held 2 2,298,417 carried by the follower and extending through in the wall of the compartment, a stud carried a. slot in the Wall of the compartment and coby the follower and extending through a slot operating with notches in the slot foroholding in the wall of the compartment and co-operating the follower in its vertically adjustable position. with notches in the slot, whereby the follower 4. A toilet kit, comprising a body portion hav- 5 is moved by the spring to hold the stud in the ing an open ended compartment therein, a .folnotches inthe slot for maintaining the follower lower in said compartment, spring means carried in its vertically adjustable position.
by the follower and extending into a vertical slot JOHN ROCCA.
