To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HERMANN HoELzER, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Osterholz-Scharmbeck, near Bremen, Germany, have invented a new and useful Tooth-Powder Dist-ributer, of which the following is a specification.

The object of the present invention is a tooth powder distributer.

As a rule the tooth powder is kept in closed or even open boxes. When making use of the tooth brush the latter is simply dipped into the open box, whereby part of the powder is spilled, it flies about or falls on other toilet objects. Another inconvenience of the tooth owder distributors, known so far, consists 1n the fact that very often several persons make use of the same distributer, which circumstance is frequently conducive of diseases of all kinds.

The object of my invention offers the advantage of the tooth powder being kept in a constantly closed box which is opened only when it must be filled anew. Furthermore my invention renders it possible to provide the brush each time with the quantity of tooth powder wanted, without bringing the brush into contact with the whole tooth powder supply. Besides an arrangement has been provided in combination with the distributer described, for the storing of the tooth brush, so that the latter need not lie about any longer on the wash stand, or soap dish, etc.

Figure l shows a transverse section of the object of my invention. Fig. 2 shows a front view of the distributer.

In Fig. l letter a signifies the recipient provided with an inclined bottom serving as a magazine for the tooth powder said recipient being closed by a lid (o). The bott-om of the recipient is provided with a slit c above which a small cylinder (d) having teeth e on its periphery is rotatably arranged. Below the slit another small recipient (f) is provided.

In Fig. 2 the holder for tooth brushes g serving for the keeping of the tooth brush may be seen while the letter lz. represents tlhe key-shaped handle fixed to the cylin- The subject of my invention is used in the following way and manner: After opening the lid b the magazine a is filled with tooth powder and then closed again. In order to extract tooth powder from the magazine, the tooth brush is kept below the slit c, and the cylinder d is slowly turned by means of the handle It, the tooth powder is then pushed through by the teeth of the cylinder,

and drops on the brush. Any powder dropping aside is not lost but falls in the magazine j', from which it may be removed from time to time.

The distributer can be made of any material. The cylinder is made of metal or glass or some other material. In case glass should be used, it may prove practical to provide the cylinder with knobs instead of teeth (e).

The drawing gives an idea of about the natural size of the distributer. The slit 0 is somewhat shorter than the brushing part of the tooth brush, b which a spilllng of the powder is avoidedl.I

Having fully explained my invention, what I claim is the following:

A tooth-powder distributer comprising in combination an upper receptacle for the tooth powder having a longitudinal slot in the bottom which is slightly shorter than an ordinary tooth brush, a conical bottom part for said receptacle, a horizontal roller with teeth upon its surface revolubly mounted in the side walls of said receptacle above said slot so that its teeth touch the inner surface of the bottom part of the receptacle, a handle upon the outer end of said roller for revolving the same from outside the apparatus, a lower receptacle in which said upper receptacle is inserted and which is open at the front side so that the tooth brush can be easily inserted to be placed with its bristles under the slot of the upper receptacle, substantially as described and shown and for the purpose set forth.
