TOOTHBRUSH AND PASTE DISPENSER ASSEMBLY Filed March 12, 1954 /4 f///"""" Y WMH/ l IN V EN TOR. dof/N r e000,
f' BY United Seres Paftfffff@ This,y invention relatesytoV toothbrush:` and paste4 dispenser assemblies.
An object of the invention Ais to provide a compact f toothbrush and paste dispenser assembly, embodying a toothbrush and a supply of toothpaste, which may be carried in the pocket for ready availability after every meal.
Another object of the invention is to provide a toothbrush and paste dispenser assembly, suitable for carriage in the pocket, in which the brush head is enclosed, when not in use, for purposes` of cleanliness and sanitation.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent from a consideration of the following description in conjunction with the attached drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a plan view of the assembly of the present invention.
Figure 2 is a view taken along the line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure `3 is a plan view of an alternative form of tooth- `brush and paste dispenser assembly.
Figure 4 is a view taken along the line 4 4 of Figure 3. t
Figure 5 is an elevational view of a modified design ofthe assembly shown in Figures` 1 and 2.
Figure 6 is a plan view in section of a modied construction of the assembly of Figure 4, with a portion thereof broken away.
Referring now to the drawing in more detail and particularly to Figures 1, 2 and 5, the reference numeral 1 designates a hollow thimble open atone end and closed at the other end.` A toothbrush, including a brush head 2 and a handle 3 connected to the head 2 is arranged so that the brush head 2 is insertable through and withdrawable from the open end of the thimble 1. The handle 3 is detachably engageable with the open end of the thimble 1. The means by which this is accomplished may consist of external threading 4 upon the end of the handle 3 adjacent the brush `head 2, as shown in Figure 2, which is engageable with internal threading upon the open end of the thimble 1, or the means may consist of a. reduced portion 5 upon the end of the handle 3 adjacent the brush head 2, as shown in Figure 5, which is frictionally engageable within the open end of the thimble 1. When the handle 3 is engaged with the thimble 1 the brush head 2 is held within the thimble 1.V
Numeral 6 designates a resilient tube adapted to contain tooth paste ,which has a discharge orifice 7 at one end Y and has the other end 8 open. The open end 8 is exteriorly of and secured to the closed end of the thimble 1. As shown in Figure 2, the end 8 of the tube 6 is internally threaded to engage external threading upon t the closed end ofthe thimble 1. As shown in Figure 5,
' ltachable cap 1.1 which closes the discharge orifice 7. A spring clip 12 is secured to the cap 11 and serves as 2,733,722 Patented Feb. 7, 19.56

The end of the tube 14 remoteA fromthe brushy head 15 is open and is closed by a' screwfplugf prvidedwith al turning knob I8. j 5 A Ypassageway 19V extends from the' interiori' `of thetube 14`fthrough a portion'o'frthe brushA head1 15 andopens'at" the base of; the bristles' Z0. Afdeta-ctiable cap 2 1; covers thel brush headv '15 and] has its open end infr'ictionat`enf-` gag'ement with the endoffthe t'ubej14i adjacentj'tlie; head 1S, which end isvreduced'- slightly to receiveA tlepen endE ofthe cap Z'lf. The; cap 21 i's' provided wi'th ventilat ing openings 22 anda spring clip 23 is secured thereto for fastening the assembly to the users pocket.
In using the assembly shown in Figures 1, 2 and 5,y the assembly is removed from the pocket and the brush detached from the thimble 1. The cap 11 is then removed from the tube 6 and the required amount of tooth paste is deposited upon the brush. VAfter the teeth have been cleaned the brush is returned to its position within the thimble 1 and the cap 11 is reattached to the tube 6. The assembly is then ready to be returned to the pocket until next needed. p
In the use of the assembly of Figures 3, 4 and 6, the assembly is detached from the pocket and the cap 21 removed.- By pressure now upon the resilient tube 14, a quantity of toothpaste will be supplied directly to the bristles 20 through the passageway 19. After the teeth have been cleaned the cap 21 will be replaced and the assembly reinserted in the pocket.
When the tooth paste carried in the assembly of Figures 1, 2 and 5 is exhausted, the thimble 1 is removedV from the end 8 Vof the tube 6 and the contents of a tube of tooth paste is emptied into the tube 6 through the open end 8. The thimble 1 is then replaced to close the open end of the tube 6. The'assembly of Figures 3,
4 and 6 is relled by removing the plug 16 and refilling the tube'14 with a supply of tooth paste.
The pocket clip 12 in place of being attached to the cap 11, Figures l, 2 and 5, may be attached to either the handle 3 or the thimble 1.
TheV cap 21 in place of frictionally engaging the tube 14, Figures 4 and 6, may be attached to the tube 14 by a thread connection.
The tube 14 in place of being threadedly attached to the brush head 1S, Figure 6, may be adhesively secured to the head.
If desired, the tube 6 of the form of Figures l, 2 and 5 or the tube 14 of the form of Figures 3, 4 and 6 may be fabricated of a transparent resilient material.
As will be seen from the foregoing, the present invention provides a convenient and compact case which may Vbe carried clipped to the pocket in the manner of a fountain pen or pencil and which encloses a toothbrush and a supply of tooth paste so that the carrier may brush his teeth at any time wherever he may be. The device is particularly useful for those who must eat a considerable number of their meals away from home and who thus lind it inconvenient to brush their teeth after-each meal without the assistance of a device such as that of the present invention.
