` Letters Patent No.`IO5,826,-Adated July/26,1870.
` IMPROVEMENT IN` WEATHER-BOARD SCRIBE.
` The Schedule referred to in these Letter Patent:` and making part of the same URIAHVFARIS, of Red Rock township, in the county of Marion and `in the State of Iowa, have invented certain newand useful Improvements in Spring Weather-board Scribe; and do hereby declare that the following is a-full, clear, and exact description thereofreference being had- -to` the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon making a part of Athis specification.
` The nature of our invention V(.:onsistsin the construction and arrangemcntof a spring weather-board scribe, as will be hereinafter fully set forth.
In order to enableothcrs skilled inthe artto which our inventionappertains to make and use the same, wewill `now proceed to desoribeiits construction and operation, `referring to 4.the annexed drawing, in

On the slide C are two springs, d d, which, if the knife or/scrbe should strike any hardsubstance while it is doing its work, will letthe knife give or yield, and still perform its work with accuracy.
Having thus fully described our invention,
What we claim as new, and desire Vto secure by Letters Patent, is
