The invention relates to compositions for the preparation of heat insulating materials, in particular foam glass. The known composition of the mixture for the manufacture of foam glass, containing, wt.% Perlite 91.5-94 and oxide hydrate 6-8.5 foaming in the temperature range 850-950 C with the formation of foam glass with a bulk weight of 200-900 kg / and water absorption up to 5 % m The disadvantage of this composition is high foaming temperature. Closest to the proposed composition of the mixture to obtain foam glass 2, containing, wt.%: Perlite 87.0-93.9 Sodium hydroxide 6.0-12.0 KNO, 0.1-1.0. The disadvantages of the known composition of foam glass are low mechanical strength as a result of heterogeneity of the structure, as well as the consumption of the gasifier. The purpose of the invention is to enhance the pro. This goal is achieved in that the charge for the preparation of foam glass, including perlite, sodium hydroxide and a blowing agent. as a blowing agent contains carbon in the following ratio, wt.%: Sodium hydroxide 6-12 Carbon 0,015-0,09 Perlite Other For the production of foam glass a dry grinding of the ingredients is made to obtain a powder with a specific surface of 3500-5000. A solution of sodium hydroxide is added to the finished powder, mixed in runners and expanded at 800-850 ° C for 5-15 minutes. The specific composition of the mixture and its properties are shown in the table. High-strength foamed glass is obtained from a mixture with a small amount of carbon, which is explained by the correct formation of its structure due to the provision of sufficient contact between the glass particles and the earlier formation of a vitreous gas-tight film on the surface of the specimen preventing the formation of gases. The use of the proposed composition of the charge will reduce the cost of foamed glass.
