Abstract
PURPOSE: An oxidative acid containing hexavalent sulfur atoms is made to act on a specific bromopolyfluoroethane to prepare a stable partially oxidized intermediate in high yield and the product is decomposed to produce the titled compound, an intermediate of a fluorine-containing compound, in high yield.
CONSTITUTION: An oxidative acid containing hexavalent sulfur atoms such as sulfur trioxide or fuming sulfuric acid acts on a bromopolyfluoroethane of formula I (X is F, Cl, Br, I; Y is Br, I) such as 1,2-dibromotetrafluoroethane, to afford an intermediate containing groups of formula II (Z is F, Cl, Br, I). Then, the intermediate is decomposed to produce difluorobromoacetyl fluoride. The reaction temperature of the intermediate formation is -10W120°C. The decomposition is effected using sulfuric acid or fuming sulfuric acid under anhydrous conditions at 0W200°C.
