Abstract
PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for a cooler for an adsorption tower and also a heater for a desorption tower by using a system in which adsorption and desorption are performed in adjacent two layers, the desorption side is heated by the heat of adsorption, and the adsorption side is cooled by the heat of adsorption.
CONSTITUTION: Adsorption is performed in the layer A of an adsorption tower 1 divided into two layers by a partition plate C, and desorption is performed in the layer B. Pressurized air is sent through a duct 11 and a valve 21 into the layer A, adsorbates, e.g., moisture, etc., are removed, and then the air is sent as a product air to the outside through a valve 23 and a duct 12. On the other hand, clean gas is sent through a duct 13 and a valve 26 into the layer B under reduced pressure, and adsorbates are removed from an adsorbent and then discharged through a valve 28 and a duct 14. The heat of adsorption generated in the layer A is utilized as the heat of desorption for the layer B through the partition plate C in such a way as to neutralize a change in temperature between the layers A and B. Thus, the temperature rise of the layer A is smaller, its adsorption capacity is greater, and the falling of temperature in the layer B is smaller, thereby raising its desorption capability.
