Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve a COD value considerably by coating a carbon steel core wire with a coating material consisting of iron powder contg; a specific amt. or below of N, TiO2, >=1 kind of Ti, Al, Mg, etc., boron oxides and boron carbonates, metallic fluorides, Si and Mn, slag forming agents, arc stabilizing agents, etc. CONSTITUTION:An arc welding electrode wherein a carbon steel core wire is coated with a coating material of the following compsn. is prepd. More specifically, 13-14 by weight % iron powder contg. <=103ppm N, 1-10 TiO2, 0.2-8 total of >=1 kind of Ti, Al, Mg, Zr, and Ca, 0.2-2 (in terms of B2O3) boron oxides or compds. of the oxides, and 22-55 total including 1 kind of boron carbonates. Further, 1-30 >=1 kind of metallic fluorides, 1-5 Si, 1-8 Mn, and the balance >=1 kind of slag forming agents, arc stabilizing agents, alloying agents, and binders.
