Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to predict and control stall of an axial-flow compressor in a highly reliable manner irrespective of degradation in the performance of the compressor, by using the rate of change in the coefficient of lift acted to blades to the flow rate of a fluid to be handled as the reference for judging stall of the blades. CONSTITUTION:A flow rate detector 6 and a converter are provided at an upstream or downstreatm portion of a compressor for transmitting an electric signal related to the flow rate to an arithmetic unit 15. In the arithmetic unit 15, the rate of change in the coefficient of lift acted to blades to the flow rate is calculated according to a prescribed formula by use of values relating to the flow rate of the compressor, lift of blades and variables of state on the opposite sides of the blades transmitted to the unit 15. Stall of blades is judged by making comparison between the rate of change in the coefficient of lift calculated by the arithmetic unit 15 and a critical value of stall stored in a memory at a comparing and judging means 11, so that stall can be predicted and controlled in a highly reliable manner irrespective of deterioration in the performance of an axial-flow compressor.
