Abstract

PURPOSE: To compensate to control the dispersion of the detection response delay in an air to fuel ratio sensor by controlling the delay time when the output of the air to fuel ratio sensor changes from return signals to reach signals depending upon the inversion period of the output signals in a compare circuit.
CONSTITUTION: An air to fuel ratio is detected by the air to fuel ratio sensor 10 based on the oxygen concentration in an engine discharge gas and this output and the comparison reference value which corresponds to a preset air to fuel ratio are compared by a compare circuit 20. The circuit discriminates whether this air to fuel ratio exceeds the preset value, i.e. lean or rich. Besides, the output signals of the compare circuit 20 is delayed by a delay circuit 30 and the air to fuel ratio compensating voltage increases or decreases by an integration circuit 40 based on this delay output. The output voltage of this integration circuit controls fuel injection by an air to fuel ratio adjusting means 50 and adjusts this air to fuel ratio into a preset one.
