Abstract

PURPOSE: To allow an exhaust gas purifier to operate always in the optimum condition and enhance thereby the purifying performance by changing the setting air- fuel ratio in accordance with the engine's operating condition.
CONSTITUTION: The air-fuel ratio of mixture shall be maintained at the setting value by allowing a deviation sensing circuit 4 to give a deviation signal obtained from the exhaust gas content sensed by an exhaust gas sensor 3 in comparison with the reference value, letting a control circuit 5 output control signal based on said deviation signal, and by controlling auxiliarily the air supply or fuel feed from a fuel regulator 6 on the basis of these control signals. The control circuit 3 is fed with either the rich or lean side value of the deviation signal extended for a certain period of time, which shall vary according to the operating condition. Thus, the value of the setting air-fuel ratio can be changed.
