Abstract
PURPOSE:To make possible sideways movement of supports of a spherical tank for the foundation at the time of annealing by interposing a moving element preliminarily between the base plate and the thrust plate at the lower end of each support. CONSTITUTION:At the time of annealing after completion of construction of a spherical tank 1, tension of each brace 3 is to be released and the junction part of a bracket 14 with the support 4 cut if necessary. Structural parts over the base plate 7' become thereby movable sideways with the aid of respective roller 13'. When necessary annealing is performed on the spherical shell 2 by means of a burner, etc. the spherical tank 2 is expanded and the supports 4 welded firmly to the spherical shell 2 with their upper ends move outwards for the set amount H on the base plates 7' on the foundation 6 with the aid of rollers 13'. When the spherical shell 2 gets the earlier condition after completion of the annealing, the lower ends of the supports 4 are welded firmly to the base plates 7' with each roller 13' encapsulated. The work is concluded by giving each brace 3 the tension requested.
