Description
具体的には、本発明は以下の(1)~(5)の構成をとる。
(1)エチレン-ビニルエステル系共重合体ケン化物(A)、層状無機化合物(B)、炭酸塩(C)(但し、炭酸塩(C)は前記層状無機化合物(B)を含まない。)を含有する樹脂組成物。
(2)前記炭酸塩(C)の含有量が、前記エチレン-ビニルエステル系共重合体ケン化物(A)と前記層状無機化合物(B)の合計量に対して、前記炭酸塩(C)の金属換算にて10~1000ppmである(1)記載の樹脂組成物。
(3)前記層状無機化合物(B)に対する、前記炭酸塩(C)の重量比が、(C)/(B)にて0.001~0.3である(1)または(2)記載の樹脂組成物。
(4)(1)~(3)のいずれか1に記載の樹脂組成物からなる成形材料。
(5)(1)~(3)のいずれか1に記載の樹脂組成物からなる層を有する多層構造体。
本発明に用いるEVOHは、非水溶性の樹脂であり、エチレンとビニルエステル系モノマーとの共重合体を、ケン化することによって得られる。エチレン-ビニルエステル共重合体は、公知の任意の重合法、例えば、溶液重合、懸濁重合、エマルジョン重合などにより製造され、エチレン-ビニルエステル共重合体のケン化も公知の方法で行い得る。
また、本発明に用いられるEVOHとしては、共重合体中に更に少量のプロピレン、イソブテン、α-オクテン、α-ドデセン、α-オクタデセン等のα-オレフィン、3-ブテン-1-オール、4-ペンテン-1-オール、3―ブテン―1,2―ジオール等のヒドロキシ基含有α-オレフィン類やそのエステル化物である、3,4-ジアセトキシ-1-ブテン、2,3-ジアセトキシ-1-アリルオキシプロパン、2-アセトキシ-1-アリルオキシ-3-ヒドロキシプロパン、3-アセトキシ-1-アリルオキシ-2-ヒドロキシプロパン、1,3-ジアセトキシ-2-メチレンプロパン、1,3-ジプロピオニルオキシ-2-メチレンプロパン、1,3-ジブチロニルオキシ-2-メチレンプロパン等のヒドロキシメチルビニリデンジアセテート類、グリセリンモノアリルエーテル、グリセリンモノビニルエーテル、グリセリンモノイソプロペニルエーテル等のグリセリンモノ不飽和アルキルエーテル類、不飽和カルボン酸又はその塩・部分アルキルエステル・完全アルキルエステル・ニトリル・アミド・無水物、不飽和スルホン酸又はその塩、ビニルシラン化合物、塩化ビニル、スチレン等のコモノマーを共重合したものであっても差し支えない。さらに、ウレタン化、アセタール化、シアノエチル化、オキシアルキレン化、エポキシ化等「後変性」されていても差し支えない。
特にヒドロキシ基含有α-オレフィン類を共重合したEVOHは、成形性や延伸性が良好になる点で好ましい。
本発明でいう無機層状化合物(B)とは、原子が共有結合などによって強く結合して密に配列したシート状物を形成し、これらシート状物がファンデルワールス力、静電気力などによってほぼ平行に積み重なった構造を有する化合物をいう。代表的には層状ケイ酸塩が挙げられる。かかる無機層状化合物は、天然品であっても合成品であってもよい。
四面体シートと八面体シートの関係が1:1型の層状ケイ酸塩として、カオリン鉱物が挙げられ、具体的にはカオリナイト、ハロイサイト、クリソタイルなどが挙げられる。2:1型の層状ケイ酸塩として、タルク、スメクタイト、バーミキュライト、雲母、脆雲母などのマイカが挙げられ、スメクタイトとしてはモンモリロナイト、サポナイトが挙げられる。これらの他にも、ハイドロタルサイトが挙げられる。コストや入手の容易さの観点から、1:1型の層状ケイ酸塩が好ましく、さらにはカオリン鉱物が好ましく、特にはカオリナイトを使用することが望ましい。
なお、層状無機化合物(B)の一次粒子は二次粒子を形成しても差し支えない。この場合、層状無機化合物(B)の濃度が1~10重量%である分散液とした場合にレーザー回折・散乱式粒度分布測定装置LA950(株式会社堀場製作所製)で測定した粒径分布の、二次粒子の体積割合で50%に相当するメジアン径が、通常0.1~60μm、好ましくは1~30μm、特に好ましくは5~15μmである。かかる粒子径が大きすぎると、成形品の外観が低下する傾向がある。
本発明においては、上記EVOH(A)、層状無機化合物(B)を含む組成物に対し、炭酸塩(C)を配合することが特徴である。炭酸塩(C)を用いることにより、加工性が顕著に向上するという効果が得られる。
具体的には例えば、炭酸ナトリウム、炭酸水素ナトリウム、炭酸カリウム、炭酸水素カリウム等のアルカリ金属塩や、炭酸マグネシウム、炭酸カルシウム等のアルカリ土類金属塩が挙げられる。これらは2種以上を併用することも可能である。
EVOHに対する分解能の点で塩基性であることが好ましいため、炭酸塩(C)は複塩であることが好ましく、特には塩基性炭酸塩が好ましい。中でも、加工性の点でアルカリ土類金属塩であることが好ましく、さらには塩基性アルカリ土類金属塩が好ましく、特には塩基性炭酸マグネシウムが好ましい。
本発明において、ベースとなる樹脂成分はEVOH(A)である。本発明の樹脂組成物におけるEVOH(A)の含有量は、通常50重量%以上、好ましくは70~99重量%、特に好ましくは80~92重量%である。本発明の効果を阻害しない範囲にて、EVOH(A)以外の樹脂(例えばポリアミド系樹脂、ポリオレフィン系樹脂等)を配合することも可能であるが、その配合量は通常50重量%未満、好ましくは30重量%未満、特に好ましくは20重量%未満である。
本発明の樹脂組成物において、EVOH(A)、層状無機化合物(B)の重量比[(B)/(A)]は通常1/99~50/50、好ましくは5/95~30/70、特に好ましくは8/92~20/80である。かかる割合が小さすぎる場合、本発明の効果が得られ難い傾向がある。
また、前記層状無機化合物(B)に対する、炭酸塩(C)成分の含有量は、重量比[(C)/(B)]にて通常0.001~0.300、好ましくは0.005~0.025、特に好ましくは0.010~0.020である。かかる量が少なすぎる場合、加工性が低下する傾向があり、多すぎる場合、生産性が低下する傾向がある。
加工性は、温度230℃に設定されたトルク検出型レオメータ(ブラベンダー社製「プラスチコーダーPLE331」、ローラーミキサー:W50E)に、樹脂組成物ペレット55gを投入し、5分間予熱した後、回転数50rpmで溶融混練した時のトルク値(Nm)を経時的(溶融混練開始の20分後、120分後)に測定した値における、(T120)/(T20)比(溶融混練開始後120分時点のトルク値(T120)/溶融混練開始後20分時点のトルク値(T20))を算出することにより評価される。(T120)/(T20)比は、通常0.03~0.60であり、好ましくは0.05~0.50であり、特に好ましくは0.07~0.35である。かかる値が小さすぎる場合、生産性が低下する傾向があり、大きすぎる場合、加工性が低下する傾向がある。
本発明の樹脂組成物の調製方法としては、特に限定されないが、例えば、
(1)各成分をドライブレンドする方法、
(2)EVOH(A)の溶液に、他の成分を配合する方法、
(3)溶融状態のEVOH(A)に他の成分を配合する方法、
等が挙げられる。
特に(3)の方法においては、(i)EVOHに対して層状無機化合物の水分散液を配合する方法、(ii)予め水分を含ませた含水EVOHに対して層状無機化合物(B)を配合する方法が挙げられる。
生産性や取扱い性の点で、(3)の方法が好ましく、さらにEVOH樹脂中への層状無機化合物の均一分散の観点から(i)の方法が好ましい。
スクリューの回転数は10~1000rpm(更には30~600rpm)の範囲から選択され、かかる回転数が低すぎると、生産性が低下する傾向があり、逆に高すぎると、樹脂組成物の品質が低下(熱劣化)する傾向がある。
<加工性>
温度230℃に設定されたトルク検出型レオメータ(ブラベンダー社製「プラスチコーダーPLE331」、ローラーミキサー:W50E)に、樹脂組成物ペレット55gを投入し、5分間予熱した後、回転数50rpmで溶融混練した時のトルク値(Nm)を経時的(溶融混練開始の20分後、120分後)に測定した。開始後20分時点のトルク値を(T20)、開始後120分時点のトルク値を(T120)とし、(T120)/(T20)比を算出した。
<樹脂組成物ペレットの製造>
EVOH(A)としてエチレン-酢酸ビニル共重合体ケン化物(a1)(エチレン含有量29.4モル%,ケン化度99.7モル%,MFR3.7g/10分(210℃、荷重2160g))を用い、層状無機化合物(B)としてカオリナイト(レーザー回折・散乱式粒度分布測定装置LA950(株式会社堀場製作所製)で測定した粒径分布の、一次粒子の体積割合で50%に相当するメジアン径が0.15μm)、炭酸塩(C)として炭酸マグネシウム(xMgCO3・yMg(OH)2・zH2Oで表される塩基性炭酸マグネシウムであり、x、y、zはそれぞれ整数である、軽質、レーザー回折散乱法による粒度分布測定において水系粉末添加法にて測定した粒度分布において、体積割合で50%に相当するメジアン径が6μm)を用いた。
上記EVOH(A)88部を、図1に示す、フルフライトスクリュー部5a、5b、5c、5d、5e、混練部6a、6b、6c、およびシールリング7a、7bを有するスクリュー構成で、シリンダに分散液圧入部2、スクリュー式サイドフィーダー3、真空ベント4を付属した二軸押出機〔L/D=56、32mmφ、図1〕の原料供給部1より投入し、温度230℃にてEVOH樹脂を溶融状態にした後、上記で得られた無機層状化合物(B)の水分散液(固形分濃度:20%)60部を分散液圧入部2より連続的に圧入し、混練した(スラリー法)。混練後のEVOH樹脂組成物をストランド状に水槽中に押出し、ペレタイザーで切断することによって、EVOH樹脂組成物ペレットを作製した。
なお、スクリュー式サイドフィーダー3は、L/D=8.3、スクリュー内径=28mmφのものを、大気解放状態で使用した。スクリュー式サイドフィーダースクリューの回転数は、100rpmであった。
得られた樹脂組成物における炭酸塩(C)の含有量は、EVOH(A)と層状無機化合物(B)の合計量に対して、炭酸塩(C)の金属換算にて350ppmである。また、得られた樹脂組成物における層状無機化合物(B)に対する、炭酸塩(C)の重量比が、(C)/(B)にて0.011である。
得られた樹脂組成物について上記評価を行った。結果を表1に示す。
<樹脂組成物ペレットの製造>
EVOH(A)としてエチレン-酢酸ビニル共重合体ケン化物(a2)(エチレン含有量29.6モル%,ケン化度99.7モル%,MFR3.8g/10分(210℃、荷重2160g))を用い、層状無機化合物(B)としてカオリナイト(レーザー回折・散乱式粒度分布測定装置LA950(株式会社堀場製作所製)で測定した粒径分布の、一次粒子の体積割合で50%に相当するメジアン径が0.15μm)、炭酸塩(C)として炭酸マグネシウム(xMgCO3・yMg(OH)2・zH2Oで表される塩基性炭酸マグネシウムであり、x、y、zはそれぞれ整数である、軽質、レーザー回折散乱法による粒度分布測定において水系粉末添加法にて測定した粒度分布において、体積割合で50%に相当するメジアン径が6μm)を用いた。
得られた樹脂組成物における炭酸塩(C)の含有量は、EVOH(A)と層状無機化合物(B)の合計量に対して、炭酸塩(C)の金属換算にて400ppmである。また、得られた樹脂組成物における層状無機化合物(B)に対する、炭酸塩(C)の重量比が、(C)/(B)にて0.013である。
上記EVOH(A)88部および炭酸塩(C)1540ppm(マグネシウム換算にて400ppm)を、図1に示す、フルフライトスクリュー部5a、5b、5c、5d、5e、混練部6a、6b、6c、およびシールリング7a、7bを有するスクリュー構成で、シリンダに分散液圧入部2、スクリュー式サイドフィーダー3、真空ベント4を付属した二軸押出機〔L/D=56、32mmφ、図1〕の原料供給部1より投入し、温度230℃にてEVOH樹脂を溶融状態にした後、上記で得られた無機層状化合物(B)の水分散液(固形分濃度:20%)60部を分散液圧入部2より連続的に圧入し、混練した(スラリー法)。混練後のEVOH樹脂組成物をストランド状に水槽中に押出し、ペレタイザーで切断することによって、EVOH樹脂組成物ペレットを作製した。
なお、スクリュー式サイドフィーダー3は、L/D=8.3、スクリュー内径=28mmφのものを、大気解放状態で使用した。スクリュー式サイドフィーダースクリューの回転数は、100rpmであった。

得られた樹脂組成物における炭酸塩(C)の含有量は、EVOH(A)と層状無機化合物(B)の合計量に対して、炭酸塩(C)の金属換算にて200ppmである。また、得られた樹脂組成物における層状無機化合物(B)に対する、炭酸塩(C)の重量比が、(C)/(B)にて0.007である。
得られた樹脂組成物について上記評価を行った。結果を表1に示す。
得られた樹脂組成物における炭酸塩(C)の含有量が、EVOH(A)と層状無機化合物(B)の合計量に対して、炭酸塩(C)の金属換算にて450ppmに、得られた樹脂組成物における層状無機化合物(B)に対する、炭酸塩(C)の重量比が、(C)/(B)にて0.015になるように変更した以外は、実施例3と同様にして樹脂組成物を得た。
得られた樹脂組成物について上記評価を行った。結果を表1に示す。
得られた樹脂組成物における炭酸塩(C)の含有量が、EVOH(A)と層状無機化合物(B)の合計量に対して、炭酸塩(C)の金属換算にて900ppmに、得られた樹脂組成物における層状無機化合物(B)に対する、炭酸塩(C)の重量比が、(C)/(B)にて0.029になるように変更した以外は、実施例3と同様にして樹脂組成物を得た。
得られた樹脂組成物について上記評価を行った。結果を表1に示す。
実施例1と同様にして円柱型ペレットを得た。得られた円柱型ペレットに対し、炭酸塩(C)に代えて酢酸マグネシウムを2062ppm(マグネシウム換算にて350ppm)となるように配合し、同様に樹脂組成物を得た。得られた樹脂組成物における炭酸塩(C)の含有量は、EVOH(A)と層状無機化合物(B)の合計量に対して、炭酸塩(C)の金属換算にて350ppmである。また、得られた樹脂組成物における層状無機化合物(B)に対する、炭酸塩(C)の重量比が、(C)/(B)にて0.017である。
得られた樹脂組成物について上記評価を行った。結果を表1に示す。
実施例1と同様にして円柱型ペレットを得た。得られた円柱型ペレットに対し、炭酸塩(C)に代えて塩基性12-ヒドロキシステアリン酸マグネシウム(αMgO・Mg(C6H13・CH(OH)・C10H20・COO)2(但し、αは0.1~1.0の数字)にて表される塩)を8800ppm(マグネシウム換算にて475ppm)となるように配合し、同様に樹脂組成物を得た。得られた樹脂組成物における炭酸塩(C)の含有量は、EVOH(A)と層状無機化合物(B)の合計量に対して、炭酸塩(C)の金属換算にて475ppmである。また、得られた樹脂組成物における層状無機化合物(B)に対する、炭酸塩(C)の重量比が、(C)/(B)にて0.073である。
得られた樹脂組成物について上記評価を行った。結果を表1に示す。
実施例1において、炭酸塩(C)を用いなかった以外は同様にして樹脂組成物を得、同様の評価を行った。結果を表1に示す。
層状無機化合物(B)を用いなかったこと、得られた樹脂組成物における炭酸塩(C)の含有量が、EVOH(A)の量に対して、炭酸塩(C)の金属換算にて450ppmになるように変更した以外は、実施例3と同様にして樹脂組成物を得た。
得られた樹脂組成物について上記評価を行った。結果を表1に示す。
これに対し、炭酸塩(C)を配合した本発明の樹脂組成物を用いた実施例1では、(T120)/(T20)比が0.25、実施例2では0.20、実施例3では0.38、実施例4では0.10、実施例5では0.05と顕著に低い値となった。
また、EVOHおよび炭酸塩のみを用いた比較例4においては、(T120)/(T20)比は0.00と生産性が大きく低下した。
以上の結果により、炭酸塩(C)を配合することで経時的な粘度低下効果が顕著に優れ、加工性が顕著に優れることが明らかである。

Claims (4)
- エチレン-ビニルエステル系共重合体ケン化物(A)、層状無機化合物(B)、炭酸塩(C)(但し、炭酸塩(C)は前記層状無機化合物(B)を含まない)を含有し、
前記炭酸塩(C)の含有量が、前記エチレン-ビニルエステル系共重合体ケン化物(A)と前記層状無機化合物(B)の合計量に対して、前記炭酸塩(C)の金属換算にて10~1000ppmである樹脂組成物。 - 前記層状無機化合物(B)に対する、前記炭酸塩(C)の重量比が、(C)/(B)にて0.001~0.3である請求項1記載の樹脂組成物。
- 請求項1または2に記載の樹脂組成物からなる成形材料。
- 請求項1または2に記載の樹脂組成物からなる層を有する多層構造体。
