Claims (7)
- エアバッグ装置を覆う自動車用インストルメントパネルを予め脆弱化するための方法であって、上記インストルメントパネルが、熱可塑性のプラスチックの基盤パネルと、その基盤パネルを覆うフォーム層と、そのフォーム層を覆い延びる柔軟なプラスチックのカバー層とを有し、上記予脆弱化部が、展開ドアパターンに沿って延び、その展開ドアパターンが、上記エアバッグ装置を覆う所定位置にて上記インストルメントパネルにエアバッグ展開開口を形成することを可能にするものであり、上記エアバッグ展開開口の形成が、上記所定位置にて上記基盤パネルの内側表面に取り付けられたエアバッグの展開により生じる圧力によりなされ、上記カバー層が、上記エアバッグ位置をスムーズ、かつ途切れなく横切って上記予脆弱化の位置にいかなるしるしも予め与えることがないように延びる外側表面の領域を有し、上記予脆弱化が、上記基盤パネルの上記内側表面にCO2レーザビームを指向させて行われ、
上記展開ドアパターンに沿って上記レーザにより上記インストルメントパネルに刻みを付けるために、上記レーザビームを上記インストルメントパネルと相対的に移動させ、
上記レーザビームによって行われる材料除去をモニターし、そのモニターが、残り厚さセンサを、上記カバー層の上記外側表面に隣接するように位置させて、上記レーザビームを用いた刻み付けによる上記カバー層の残り厚さを検出し、かつ対応するフィードバック信号を生成して行われ、
一つ以上の展開ドアを同時に形成すべく、上記基盤パネルと上記フォーム層とを完全に貫通し、上記カバー層の内側を部分的に刻みを付けるように、上記レーザビームを制御し、上記展開ドアが上記カバー層の上記予脆弱化パターンに完全に合わせられ、上記予脆弱化パターンが、上記外側表面の領域内に完全に位置され、
上記制御が、上記レーザビームの位置及び/或いはパワー出力を、上記フィードバック信号に対応させて変化させて行われ、そのフィードバック信号が、残りの材料の厚さを精密に制御するため及び、上記予脆弱化パターンに沿って延び、上記基盤パネルと上記フォーム層とを完全に貫通する部分と、上記予脆弱化パターンに沿って上記カバー層の内側にステップ状に部分的に突入する突入部分とを有する溝を形成するためのものであることを特徴とする方法。 - 上記レーザによる刻み付けは、上記突入部分の下方の残り厚さが実質的に一定に維持されるように制御される請求項1記載の方法。
- 上記レーザの刻み付けによる予脆弱化部が、上記展開ドアパターンの3つの辺に沿って延びる請求項1記載の方法。
- 上記レーザの刻み付けによる予脆弱化部が、上記展開ドアパターンの全ての辺上に延びる請求項3記載の方法。
- 請求項1記載の方法により予め脆弱化された、自動車の助手席側のエアバッグ装置を覆うための自動車のインストルメントパネルであって、
そのインストルメントパネルが、基盤パネルと、その基盤パネルを覆い延びるフォーム層と、そのフォーム層を覆う柔軟なプラスチックのカバー層とを有し、
上記予脆弱化部が、パターンに沿ったレーザ刻みを備え、上記パターンが、上記インストルメントパネルに上記パターンに対応したエアバッグ展開開口を形成することを可能にするものであり、上記エアバッグ展開開口の形成が、所定位置にて上記基盤パネルの内側に取り付けられたエアバッグの膨張により生じる圧力によりなされ、
上記インストルメントパネルが、上記基盤パネルの内側により定義された内側表面と上記カバー層の外側により定義された外側表面とを有し、その外側表面は、上記自動車の中から見えると共に、形成される上記エアバッグ展開開口の位置にいかなるしるしも予め与えることがないように、上記所定位置にて上記予脆弱化のための刻みパターンをスムーズ、かつ途切れなく横切って延び、
上記予脆弱化部のレーザ刻みが、上記パターンに沿って延び、上記基盤パネルおよびフォーム層を完全に貫通する部分と、上記パターンに沿って上記カバー層内にステップ状に部分的に突入する突入部分とを有する溝を形成し、上記突入部分の下の上記カバー層の残り厚さが実質的に一定である
インストルメントパネル。 - 上記レーザの刻み付けによる予脆弱化部が、上記展開ドアパターンの3つの辺に沿って延びる上記請求項5記載のインストルメントパネル。
- 上記レーザの刻み付けによる予脆弱化部が、上記展開ドアパターンの全ての辺上に延びる上記請求項6記載のインストルメントパネル。
