Description
この半透過型液晶表示装置は、一つの画素領域内に画素電極を備えた透過部と画素電極及び反射電極の両方を備えた反射部を有しており、暗い場所においてはバックライトを点灯して画素領域の透過部を利用して画像を表示し、明るい場所においてはバックライトを点灯することなく反射部において外光を利用して画像を表示しているため、常時バックライトを点灯する必要がなくなるので、消費電力を大幅に低減させることができるという利点を有している。

前記反射部及び透過部に設ける画素電極を、前記走査線及び信号線と層間膜を介して平面視において重なるように形成し、
前記透過部における信号線の幅を前記反射部に対応する信号線の幅よりも太くし、
前記透過部における画素電極と信号線の重なり幅を前記反射部における画素電極と信号線の重なり幅よりも太くしたことを特徴とする。

Claims (4)
- マトリクス状に配置された信号線及び走査線により区画されるそれぞれの位置に反射部と透過部とが形成された第一基板と、カラーフィルタ及び共通電極を形成した第二基板と、前記両基板間に配置された液晶層とを有する半透過型液晶表示装置において、
前記反射部及び透過部に設ける画素電極と前記反射部に設ける反射電極を、前記走査線及び信号線と層間膜を介して平面視において重なるように形成し、
前記透過部における信号線の幅を前記反射部に対応する信号線の幅よりも太くし、
前記透過部における画素電極と信号線の重なり幅を前記反射部における画素電極及び反射電極と信号線の重なり幅よりも太くしたことを特徴とする半透過型液晶表示装置。 - 前記層間膜は前記反射部、透過部、信号線及び走査線上に一体に設けられていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の半透過型液晶表示装置。
- 前記透過部における画素電極と信号線の重なり幅は、前記反射部における画素電極及び反射電極と信号線の重なり幅よりも1.0μm以上大きくしたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の半透過型液晶表示装置。
- 前記透過部における画素電極と信号線の重なり幅は、1.2μm以上となるように選択されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の半透過型液晶表示装置。
