Claims (38)
- 患者の身体に接触して設置されるよう構成された電極において、
前記電極が患者の身体に接触して設置される時に患者に面する第1の側を持った導電性の基板であって、かつその導電性の基板は該導電性の基板の第1の側面を貫通して該基板を貫通する複数の空間を有し、その状況で、前記空間は、電極が患者の身体に接触して設置される時に該空間を通して患者の身体の表面上の水分が逃げることを可能にするように分配されかつそのような大きさである導電性の基板と、
前記電極が患者の身体に接触して設置される時に患者の身体から前記導電性の基板を絶縁するように前記導電性の基板の第1の側面に配置され、その状況で、前記誘電体の被覆が少なくとも1000である誘電率を持っている薄い誘電体材料と、
有することを特徴とする電極。 - 前記導電性の基板は1つの導電性材料であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極。
- 前記導電性の基板は、隣接するセクションに対して制限された量だけセクションが動くのを可能にするという方法で、お互いに取り付けられる複数の分離セクションを有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極。
- 前記導電性の基板は、少なくとも2mmだけ間隔を空けられた複数のほぼ平行なワイヤーを有し、前記薄い誘電体材料はワイヤーのそれぞれを囲むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極。
- 前記空間は少なくとも2mmの幅であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極。
- 前記空間は少なくとも4mmの幅であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極。
- 前記空間は最小で4平方mmである領域を持っていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極。
- 前記空間は最小で16平方mmである領域を持っていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極。
- 前記空間は、第1の場所での電極の全体フットプリントが第2の場所での電極の全体フットプリントに実質的に重なる状態で、電極が第1の場所にある時に覆われる患者の身体の表面のセグメントが、電極が第2の場所に動かされる時に覆われなくなることを可能にするパターンで配列されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極。
- すべての空間の組み合わせた領域は、電極のフットプリントの領域の約半分であることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の電極。
- 前記誘電体の被覆は少なくとも10,000である誘電率を持っていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電極。
- AC電界によって患者を治療する方法において、
患者の身体に対する少なくとも2つの電極であって、該電極は、導電性の基板、および患者と前記導電性の基板との間に配置される薄い誘電体層を持ち、その状況で、前記電極の少なくとも1つが自身を貫通する複数の空間を持ち、該空間が、前記電極の下に位置する水分が前記空間を介して逃げることを可能にするように分配されかつそのような大きさであるような電極、を設置する段階と、
患者の身体のターゲット領域における電界であって、前記電界が約50kHzから約500kHzの間の周波数、および前記ターゲット領域において約0.1から約10V/cmの間の電界強度を持つような電界、を導入するために電極にAC電圧をかける段階と、
を有することを特徴とする方法。 - 前記かける段階は少なくとも5日間続くことを特徴とする請求項12に記載の方法。
- 前記電界は、約170kHzから約250kHzの間の周波数、および前記ターゲット領域において約1から約10V/cmの間の電界強度を持つことを特徴とする請求項12に記載の方法。
- 前記電界は、約120kHzの周波数、および前記ターゲット領域において約1から約10V/cmの間の電界強度を持つことを特徴とする請求項12に記載の方法。
- 前記導電性の基板は1つの導電性材料であることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の方法。
- 前記導電性の基板は、隣接するセクションに対して制限された量だけセクションが動くのを可能にする方法で、お互いに取り付けられる複数の分離セクションを有することを特徴とする請求項12に記載の方法。
- 前記導電性の基板は、少なくとも2mmだけ間隔を空けられた複数のほぼ平行なワイヤーを有し、その状況で、前記薄い誘電体材料はワイヤーのそれぞれを囲むことを特徴とする請求項12に記載の方法。

- 患者の身体の表面の第1の場所が前記電極の固体部分によって覆われるような第1の場所から、前記第1の場所が前記電極の固体部分によって覆われないような第2の場所へと電極を動かす段階をさらに有し、その状況で、前記第1の場所での電極の全体フットプリントが前記第2の場所での電極の全体フットプリントに実質的に重なることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の方法。
- 前記電極は、2〜4日毎に前記第1の場所と前記第2の場所との間で切り替えられることを特徴とする請求項23に記載の方法。
- AC電界によって患者を治療する方法において、
患者の身体に対する少なくとも2つの電極であって、該電極は、導電性の基板、および患者と前記導電性の基板との間に配置される薄い誘電体層を持ち、該誘電体層は少なくとも1000である誘電率を持ち、その状況で、前記電極の少なくとも1つが自身を貫通する複数の空間を持ち、該空間が、前記電極の下に位置する水分が前記空間を介して逃げることを可能にするように分配されかつそのような大きさであるような電極、を設置する段階と、
患者の身体のターゲット領域における電界であって、前記電界が約50kHzから約500kHzの間の周波数、および前記ターゲット領域において約0.1から約10V/cmの間の電界強度を持つような電界、を導入するために電極にAC電圧をかける段階と、
