Abstract
【解決手段】同一基板上に上部電極層と下部電極層とが形成された液晶表示装置において、上部電極層である画素電極のスリット61のエッジ部分においてディスクリネーションが生じる領域(D)71は、スリット61の長辺がラビング方向R−Rを基準にして、スリット61の長辺がなす角度の鋭角αの方向を正方向として、ラビング方向R−Rに対するエッジ部分の接線方向のなす角度βが0°と−90°との間の領域である。そこで、ラビング方向R−Rに対し、上部電極層である画素電極のスリット61のエッジ部分の接線方向のなす角度βが0°と−90°との間の領域を、エッジ部分の接線方向のなす角度βが0°から+90°との間の領域より小さくなるように形成される。

Claims (6)
- 同一基板上に絶縁層を介して形成された上部電極層と下部電極層について、いずれか一方を共通電極層に割り当て、他方を画素電極層に割り当て、前記上部電極層に電界を通す開口部を形成して前記下部電極層との間に電圧を印加し、液晶分子を駆動する液晶表示装置であって、
ラビング方向を基準にして前記開口部の長辺がなす角度の鋭角方向を正方向として、
前記開口部のエッジ部分は、前記ラビング方向に対する前記エッジ部分の接線方向が、0°と+90°との間となる第1曲線部と、0°と−90°との間となる第2曲線部とを有し、前記第2曲線部は、前記第1曲線部より小さいことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 同一基板上に絶縁層を介して形成された上部電極層と下部電極層について、いずれか一方を共通電極層に割り当て、他方を画素電極層に割り当て、前記上部電極層にスリットを形成して前記下部電極層との間に電圧を印加し、液晶分子を駆動する液晶表示装置であって、
ラビング方向を基準にして前記スリットの長辺がなす角度の鋭角方向を正方向として、
前記スリットのエッジ部分は、前記ラビング方向に対する前記エッジ部分の接線方向が、0°と+90°との間となる第1曲線部と、0°と−90°との間となる第2曲線部とを有し、前記第2曲線部は、前記第1曲線部より小さいことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置であって、
前記ラビング方向を基準にして前記スリットの長辺がなす角度の鋭角をαとし、前記鋭角方向を正方向とするとき、記エッジ部分が、前記ラビング方向に対しαと+90°との間の傾きを有する傾き端部線をさらに有することを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項3に記載の液晶表示装置であって、
前記エッジ部分は、その先端にさらに凸部分を有することを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置であって、
画素の矩形形状の直交する軸方向に対し、前記ラビング方向が45°をなすことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 同一基板上に絶縁層を介して形成された上部電極層と下部電極層について、いずれか一方を共通電極層に割り当て、他方を画素電極層に割り当て、前記上部電極層に電界を通す開口部を櫛歯状形状に形成して前記下部電極層との間に電圧を印加し、液晶分子を駆動する液晶表示装置であって、
ラビング方向を基準にして前記櫛歯形状の長辺がなす角度の鋭角方向を正方向として、
前記櫛歯形状のエッジ部分は、前記ラビング方向に対する前記エッジ部分の接線方向が、0°と+90°との間となる第1曲線部と、0°と−90°との間となる第2曲線部とを有し、前記第2曲線部は、前記第1曲線部より小さいことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
