Abstract

995,495. Ladders. W. ZARGES. March 27, 1962 [March 30, 1961], No. 11683/62. Heading A6L. A combined long and step ladder comprises a chain 20 to limit separation of the ladder parts 1 and 7 and convex parts 16 on the part 7 engaging in concave parts 12 on the part 1 to allow pivoting of the parts when in step-ladder form. A rod 6 connecting plates 4 on the side members of the part 1 guides the part 7. Hooks 21 on the part 7 engage a rung on the part 1 when in long ladder form. In a modification, Figs. 4-6 (not shown), pins on the part 7 engage concave surfaces on the part 1 when in stepladder form.
