Abstract

1,031,401. Ladders. C. H. MATTHEWS. Dec. 31, 1964 [Jan. 1, 1964], No. 45/64. Heading A6L. In a ladder the ends of the tubular metal rungs are swaged so as to become embedded in the hole 5 in the wooden etc. stile. The end 9 is swaged into the countersunk end of the hole 5 and the rung is swaged to embed a rib or ribs 10 in the stile. Swaged ribs 8 form an abutment for the rung against the inner side of the stile.
