Abstract

A cement composition consists of 100 parts by weight of Portland cement, 0.5-3 parts of a water-soluble non-ionic cellulose ether and 10-35 parts of a lightweight filler having a density of less than 20 lbs./cu. ft., such as vermiculite or perlite. The cement may be a rapid hardening type containing calcium chloride. The mix is gauged with 80-120 parts by weight of water. The cellulose ethers specified are methyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose and methyl-hydroxypropyl cellulose.
