Abstract
Alloys suitable for the production of parts subjected to stress at high temperatures have a composition, in percentage by weight, within the following range .C.0.5-2.0 .Mn.0.1-2.0 .Si.0.1-2.0 .Cr.15.0-25.0 .W.1.0-5.0 .Mo.1.0-5.0 .Nb and/or Ta.1.0-6.0 Ni and impurities the remainder. The alloy may also contain one or more of the following elements Fe up to 15, B up to 0.5 ,N 0.01-0.2, Al, Be, Ce, Cu, Ti, V, Zr up to 3.0 in total. Examples of alloys within this range are forged, solution treated for 5 minutes at 1250 DEG C. and oil quenched. The Provisional Specification describes also the addition of Co up to 25 to an alloy of the above composition.
