651,064. Bilge keels. ORNELL, N. J. Sept. 28, 1948, No. 25264. [Class 113 (ii)] In a bilge keel comprising a continuous web B, which extends along a substantial part of the bilge of the ship A, having parallel or substantially parallel faces and arranged normal or substantially normal to the ship and structurally connected therewith, the thickness of said web being substantially less than its width and the longitudinal length many times its width, along the outboard edge of this web is a flange C which extends upon both sides of such web and the width of which is substantially large in relation to the width of such web, the flange having a plane, curved, or arcuate cross-section. The flange may run continuously along the edge of the web or be in subdivided spaced sections.
