Abstract

[Class 139] A watch movement with a centre seconds-hand which is controlled by a flirt unlocked by the escape wheel is characterized in that it comprises two gear trains arranged in parallel to each other, the one train comprising the gear wheel on the seconds-hand arbor and ending in the flirt, the other train ending in the escape wheel, the first gear train being derived from a wheel of the second train by means of elastic means susceptible of an energy accumulation. The third wheel 1 has on its arbor 8 an arm 11 having a pin 12 connected to one end of a spring 14, the other end of which is connected to a pin on a wheel 7 rotatable freely on the arbor 8. The wheel 7 drives the wheel 6, the arbor of which carries the seconds-hand and which drives a wheel 5 gearing with a pinion carrying a flirt 4 co-operating with a pinion 3 on the escape wheel arbor 2 of the watch. As the wheel 1 rotates it carries with it the arm 11 so tensioning the spring 14 as the gear train 7, 6, 5 is locked by flirt 4 engaging a tooth of pinion 3. On release of the flirt 4 every second the spring 14 drives the gear train 7, 6, 5 to move the seconds-hand 6 degrees. The spiral spring 14 may be replaced by a spring of the leaf type.
