Abstract
667,031. Clocks and watches. EBAUCHES SOC. ANON. June 2, 1949 [June 9, 1948], No. 14857/49. Class 139. In a timepiece movement the independent seconds' mechanism (Figs. 2 and 3), comprises, as part of the gear train of the seconds' hand, a first driving wheel 4, a driven wheel 5 coaxial with the driving wheel and having the same number of teeth as, but a slightly smaller diameter than the driving wheel, said driven wheel 5 being mounted idle over the shaft 6 of said driving wheel 4, a spring 7 connecting the driving and the driven wheels, a stopping and braking device (pawl 9) co-operating with the teeth of the driving and driven wheels to allow by its displacement upon the passage of each tooth of the driving wheel 4 a partial rotation of the driven wheel 5 as a result of the action of the spring 7 on the driven wheel 5. The wheel 5 meshes with a pinion 3 which drives the seconds' wheel 2 in step-by-step manner. One end of the spiral spring 7 is connected to the shaft 6 of the driving wheel 4 and the other end to a pin 8 on the driven wheel 5. A pin 12 on the wheel 4 arrests the wheel 5 after each movement thereof by abutting against the adjacent spoke of the wheel 5. Some of the spokes are notched at 13 to vary the initial relative setting of the wheels 4 and 5. The timepiece "beats" full seconds.
