Abstract
443,606. Stays for hinged articles. WARSHAWER, N., 321, Old Street, London. Oct. 10, 1934, No. 29019. [Class 65 (i)] A hinged stay for swinging objects such as a swinging mirror 10 comprises two brackets, one of which 8 carries a hingedly connected stay bar 9 and is connected to the mirror, while the other bracket 1 is connected to the fixed frame of the mirror and carries a box-like member 1<b> having a hole in one wall 1<e> through which projects a spring-pressed hemispherical member or ball 6 ; a wall 1<d> fixed adjacent and parallel to the wall 1<e> of the box forms a slot 5 open at the top, in which the stay bar 9 may be inserted, the member 6 then serving to press the bar against the wall 1<e> to hold it in any position. The bar 9 may be slotted and is provided with a projection 9<c> which prevents the bar sliding completely through the slot 5. The hemispherical member 6 may be pressed outwards by a U-shaped, flat or helical spring, or if a ball is used, the hole in the wall 1<e> is of conical shape and of such diameter as to retain the ball with a part projecting into the slot 5.
