[Class 18] [See also Group XX] The hinged lid of a spectacle case is formed as a receptacle and is provided with means to grip small articles, such as a mirror, comb, &c. The lid may be formed as a hollow member with a slot 19, Fig. 3, through which an article 11 can be inserted or withdrawn, or the lid may comprise two hinged flaps 3, 5, Fig. 1, with the space between them constituting the receptacle. On one side of the flap 3 toilet articles 13 are removably attached whilst a writing block is fixed on the other side, along with a clip to hold a pencil. A mirror 15 is provided on the inside of the flap 5 or lid 17 or those surfaces can be made of polished metal or be plated. Springs tending to keep the flaps 3, 5 closed and open respectively are also provided, or the part carrying the mirror may be so hinged that it can be set in any desired position. In the form shown in Fig. 3, a blade spring retains the comb in position.. The case is made of metal or synthetic materials. According to the first Provisional Specification, the mirror is a push fit under a frame soldered to the inside of the lid, or the frame has clips which can be bent over the mirror, or the mirror is positioned between two frames. A comb may be secured by a clip under a false bottom to the case, and it is introduced' into this space through a slot at the end of the case.
