Abstract

323,101. Lammeren, W. P. van. Dec. 6, 1928. Movable -abutment type: packing drums.-A rotary engine, pump or the like, of the sliding abutment type in which an annular chamber 3 of circular cross-section is formed between a casing 1 and a concentric rotor 2, has a labyrinth packing arranged between laterally extending spaced flanges 9, 10 on the casing and rotor. The packing consists of projecting rings formed or fitted on one of the flanges and with side or end plates adapted to rotate close to the other flange or to side or end parts of projecting rings on that flange. Various forms are shown in Figs. 3-6. An internal-combustion motor oomprising a compressor section as above supplying an engine section of the same kind, or a turbine section, is similarly provided with labyrinth packing between the sections.
