Abstract

256,127. Schaurte, P. Jan. 28, 1926. Movable-abutment type.-A rotary engine, pump or the like comprises a rotary casing 2 having radially sliding abutments 4 pivotally connected to shoes 5 between which and a stationary hollow eccentric drum 1 is a flexible sheet metal liner 20 formed with ports 23 for the supply and exhaust, of working fluid from and to axial compartments 14, 16 in the hollow drum. The ports 23 are covered and uncovered by the shoes 5. The shoes 5 are held together by rings 24 engaging the end faces. To facilitate exhaust the outflowing fluid may pass to a bladed chamber 27 at the end of the rotary casing. Packing liners 7 are fitted to the abutment housings, The liner 20 may comprise sectors extending only to under the adjacent shoe.
