Abstract
In a machine for unwinding and automatically connecting sheet material such as polyethylene film, non- woven or cellular sheets carried by two reels 20A, 20B, each reel being driven at the periphery thereof by separate peripheral driving devices 5A, 5B arranged to rotate at the same speed and each being capable of being brought selectively into engagement with its associated reel whereby the reels can be driven and unwound alternately at a speed, controlled by the unwinding speed required at the downstream end of the machine, means 6A, 6B are provided to detect the near expiry of a first driven reel and to initiate drive of the second, replacement reel. <IMAGE>
