Abstract
202,939. English Electric Co., Ltd., and Deriaz, P. April 27, 1922. Radial - flow (bladed) type; working - fluid supply. - In hydraulic turbines wherein the runner 21 carries blades 22 of the outward-flow type, the inlet channel 20 and the guide-vanes 23 therein are so arranged as to establish a stable vortex and secure an approximation to straightline flow, as seen when projected rectilinearly on to an axial plane, from the guide-vanes to the runner blades. Fig. 6 shows an application of the invention to a turbine having inlet chambers 70, 71 arranged above and below the runner 21, which is disposed below the level of the tailwater in the race 67 and delivers into a discharge chamber 68 of semi-oval form in horizontal section.
