Abstract

1434439 Piston rings MIDLAND-ROSS CORP 23 April 1974 [25 May 1973] 17739/74 Heading F2B In a piston, e.g. for a gas compressor, in which split rings are biased outwardly and twisted under their own resilience, a pair of rings 28, 30 occupy a common groove 18 and form line contact seals 44, which may be spaced by an oil-retaining cavity 50. Further line contact seals are formed at edges 46 and 48. The gaps in the rings are preferably staggered by 180 degrees.
