Abstract
1416873 Hydrocyclones ROLLS-ROYCE (1971) Ltd 9 March 1973 [14 March 1972] 11801/72 Headings B1M and B2P [Also in Division Fl] Liquid fuel containing gas bubbles is fed at 26, Fig. 7, on to a conical baffle 40 surmounted by a weir 42. The gas separates from the liquid and collects at the top of a cylindrical container 44, while the liquid flows over the baffle 40 and through a small clearance between the baffle and the wall of the container and leaves the container at 28. In the vortex separator shown in Fig. 8, having a tangential inlet 54, the separated gas forms a central core, shown dotted, which is discharged via a central top outlet 56, while the liquid fuel keeps to the wall of the container 48 arid passes via two part-annular slots 52 in a diaphragm 50 to a chamber 102 below the diaphragm and thence to a tangential outlet 58.
