Abstract
1,015,845. Cyclone separators. ETABLISSMENTS NEYRPIC (ATELIERS NEYRETBEYLIER & PICCARD-PICTET). Aug. 12, 1964 [Aug. 12, 1963], No. 32896/64. Heading B2P. A mixture of paper pulp composed of water and light fibres and containing heavy solid impurities is purified by feeding the mixture, through a tangential inlet 11, into a main cyclone 10, Fig. 1 (not shown), from the upper end of which water and fibres freed from the solid impurities are discharged through an axial outlet 12 while the solid impurities together with some of the water and fibres pass from the lower end of the main cyclone and enter into an auxiliary cyclone 13 through an annular radial passage 15, Fig. 2, which is arranged at the level of a tangential inlet 14 for dilution water, the solid impurities being removed after separation through a bottom outlet 24 and water and light fibres being discharged upwardly via an axial passage 16 into the main cyclone. The cyclone 10 is connected to the cyclone 13 by means of a nozzle member 17 at the lower extremity of which a distribution member 21 formed with the passage 16 is spacedly fixed with the interposition of washers 23 so as to define the passage 15. The solid impurities pass into a transparent chamber 25 from which they are removed through an orifice 26. Visual observation of the impurities in the chamber 25 permits regulation of the rate of flow of water entering at 14 to prevent the fibres being entrained through the outlet 24. In a modification, the passage 16 is defined in a tubular element extending into, and spaced from, the interior of the nozzle member 17 and provided at its extremity with a flexible non- return valve in the form of a rubber element slotted at its tip.
