Abstract

1416526 Rotary harrows or cultivators C VAN DER LELY NV 1 Dec 1972 [7 Jan 1972] 55730/72 Heading A1B Tubes 118 for delivering seeds to the soil from a container 83 are supported at the rear of the frame 45 and forward of a support roller 68. Fertiliser is supplied from a container 82 through tubes 117 to the soil before harrowing by soil working rotors 47. The shafts 94 and 95 of the vaned feed mechanisms and agitators of the hoppers 82 and 83 are driven by sprockets 96, 98, 100 and chains 97, 99 from a shaft 101 which is connected by universal joints and a telescopic shaft 106, and sprockets 110, 112 and chain 111 to the far end of the shaft 113 of a groundengaging support roller 68. The outlet parts of each hopper 82 and 83 are controlled by a single masking plate provided with holes and slidable along each hopper by means of a hand lever 93. The roller 68 is supported by two arms 65 pivoted at 64 and adjustably secured by pins 66 to determine the working height. A change-speed assembly 72 can occupy different positions relative to gear box 71 to give different speeds of rotation of the soil working rotors 47. Each rotor 47 comprises trailing tines 56 secured in sleeves 51 by nuts 54. Screening caps 57 are provided on the rotors 47, and a screening beam 61 is pivoted at 59 and urged by tension springs 62. The tubes 117 are secured to the screening beam 61. The tubes 118 may be provided with coulters. In Fig. 6, the hoppers 82 and 83 are carried by supports 131 secured to the roller support arms 65 so that the telescopic shaft 106 &c can be replaced by a simple chain transmission 132 between the roller 68 and the shaft 101. Each roller support arm 65 is raised and lowered by means of a hand crank having a screw-threaded spindle 130 engaging a nut carried by a lever system 129 linked to the arms 65.
