Abstract

1,215,052. Soil-working implements. TEXAS INDUSTRIES Inc. 8 May, 1968 [12 May, 1967], No. 21899/68. Heading A1B. [Also in Division E2] A cultivating implement or cultivator has a frame 1 and four soil-working members which are quickly-releasable from a triangular support plate 9 by three dowels in a support plate 43 extending through holes in plate 9 and retained by pins (46), Fig. 4 (not shown), which are themselves maintained in their operative positions by resilient split rings (47). Drive is from a tractor, through a shaft 18, a change-speed gear 17, to bevel gears 14 and 15. One shaft 8 is driven direct whilst adjacent shafts are operated by bevel gears 11 meshing with gears 13. An end member having frame beams 26, 27 is hinged to beams 2, 3 by pins 25 and can be rotated into a transport position as ajacent ends of the beams are bevelled. The height of the working parts can be varied by adjusting ground wheels 38. Sleeves 39 and 39A are for receiving sub-soil cultivators 40 or ridging mechanism respectively. The soilworking members may take several forms as illustrated in Figs. 2, 3, 5-19 (not shown). In a modification, Fig. 20 (not shown), attachments (85) for the spreading of seeds, fertilizer and so on, are connected to frame 1 alongside each other. Each attachment comprises an inverted conical hopper (86) and a rotary bladed spreader (88) with drive from an upward extension of the corresponding shaft 8.
