Abstract

1489924 Self-levelling headlamps LUCAS ELECTRICAL Ltd 20 March 1975 [16 April 1974] 16525/74 Heading F4R A self-levelling headlamp unit 14 is pivotally mounted on a housing 10 and is tilted by means of a pendulum 16, which is responsive to acceleration or braking of the vehicle, and an electrically operated transducer 23 which is controlled by a signal corresponding to the attitude of the vehicle body relative to the rear wheels of the vehicle. The output rod 25 of the transducer 23 is slidable in a tube 26 carried by a bracket 22, and the pendulum arm 18 is pivoted on the rod 25 at 27 and is connected by a ball and socket joint 20 to a link 19 attached to the lamp unit by a ball and socket joint 21. A damper 28 containing viscous silicone liquid is connected to the arm 18 by a rod 30.
