Abstract

1333047 Viscose filaments COURTAULDS Ltd 26 Nov 1970 [27 Nov 1969] 58002/69 Heading B5B Multi-limbed filaments are made by spinning a viscose of salt number 3À0-6À4 and containing 6À5-9À5% cellulose, 5À0-7À0% NaOH and from 3À0% up to the solubility limit of Na 2 CO 3 , into a bath containing 9À0-15À0% H 2 SO 4 , 0À5-3À0% ZnSO 4 and 20À0-26À0% Na 2 SO 4 at 60-70‹C, followed by stretching at least 20%. Stretching may be up to 70% in 2% sulphuric acid at, e.g. 80‹C. Filaments of 0À5-10 denier may be produced having cross-sections approximating to Y, X or H, and a water inhibition of 300%.
