Abstract

1,243,194. Regenerated cellulose filaments. COURTAULDS Ltd. 12 Dec., 1968 [13 Dec., 1967], No. 56592/67. Heading B5B. [Also in Division C3] Regenerated cellulose filaments of enhanced dyeability having an amino-nitrogen content of at least 0À06% by weight incorporate aminoethyl cellulose containing at least 2% by weight of amino nitrogen, and are made by mixing a solution in water or aqueous caustic soda of the above amino-ethyl cellulose with a viscose to form a modified viscose which is then extruded through a multi-hole jet into a spin bath when the nitrogen content of the aminoethyl cellulose is below 4% by weight preferably between 2À7 and 3À3 it is dissolved in aqueous NaOH; at 4% and above it may be dissolved in water. In the latter case the freshly coagulated filaments may be stretched by at least 60% of their original length or cross-linked in order to prevent the water soluble aminoethers from being leached from the filaments when they are immersed in hot dilute acids.
