Abstract
1371665 Engine stop gear; fuel injection pumps SOC D'ETUDES DE MACHINES THERMIQUES 23 Dec 1971 [3 Dec 1970] 60045/71 Headings F1A and F1K A pneumatic or hydraulic actuator 2 is mounted on the fuel injection pump 1 of an internal combustion engine. In the case of overspeeding a centrifugal tripping means (not shown) controls the actuator 2, or all the actuators if there is more than one pump. The pressurized fluid pushes the piston 11 of the actuator 2 downwardly. The piston 11 acts upon the pivoted lever 16 and the fork 18 raises the guide 20 of the piston of the pump so as to disconnect the piston from its actuating mechanism, thus stopping the supply of fuel. The or each actuator may comprise a manual control lever 21.
