Abstract
1351719 Triazolobenzodiazepines UPJOHN CO 10 Aug 1972 [13 Sept 1971] 37316/72 Heading C2C Compounds of the general formula (R 1 = H, C 1-3 alkyl; R 2 = pyridyl, 2-pyrimidyl, furyl, pyrryl, thienyl, C 1-3 alkyl, C 2-3 alkenyl- C 5-7 cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl; R 3 = H, halo, gen, NO 2 , CF 3 , C 1-3 alkoxy or alkylthio, di-(C 1-3 alkyl) amino) and their acid addition salts are prepared by reacting a compound of the formula with trifluoroacetic acid, optionally followed by salt formation. The starting materials are prepared by reacting the corresponding thione with hydrazine hydrate; the thiones are obtained by reacting the ketone with phosphorus pentasulphide. The above compounds are sedatives, hypnotics, anticonvulsants, tranquillizers and muscle relaxants, and increased growth rate and feed efficiency of livestock. They may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical or veterinary preparations or food premixes containing them in association with a carrier.
