Abstract

1,209,687. Moulding hollow articles. UNIVERSAL OIL PRODUCTS CO. 7 July, 1969 [14 Aug., 1968], No. 38806/68. Heading B5A. A hollow plastics article, e.g. a closed cover for a cushion is made by coating the inside surfaces of each section of a divisable mould with a curable liquid plastics material or a plastisol, assembling the mould while the coating is wet, curing or gelling respectively the coating, dividing the mould and removing the plastics article. The plastisol is preferably P.V.C. which is sprayed on to the mould surface and the cover may be filled with foam either by injecting a foamable material, e.g. polyurethane into the hollow article and foaming or by cutting the cover and inserting a preformed foam block. A seat 1, e.g. for a tractor, is made in a mould 5 comprising two sections 6 and 7 held together and located by flanges 8, 9, the mould parting line being along the edges of the cover. The plastics layer 2 is sprayed on to the mould surfaces with the flanges 8, 9 masked.
