Abstract

1,204,633. Tray. P. E. STONEHAM and P. K. STONEHAM, [trading as MINTERS CATERERS & CO.]. 29 Jan., 1969, No. 5011/69. Heading B8P. A tray suitable for carrying drinks, sandwiches &c. comprises an upper panel 4 including drink receiving apertures 10, 11 and apertures defined by cut lines 25 and 30, two side panels 2 and 3 and a base panel 1 and 5, the flaps formed by cut lines 25 and 30 being bent down and secured by tabs 27 and 32 to the base panel to form reinforcements. The upper panel is provided with a central food receiving rectangular aperture formed by bending flaps 19 and 21 (see Fig. 1) downwardly, these flaps also acting as reinforcements. The tray is made from the blank shown in Fig. 1 by bending panel 5 about line 9 into contact with upper panel 4, the tabs 27 and 32 being accommodated by cut outs 33 and 34 in edge flap 36. Adhesive is then applied to a line across flap 36 and tab 27 and 32 and the panels 1 and 2 bent over about lines 7 and 7a so that part 35 of panel 1 engages the flap 36 and the tabs thereby making a flat blank. These blanks may be sold to the consumer and easily erected into trays by pressing opposite corners and then bending flaps 19 and 21 downwardly. If desired the apertures 10 may be replaced by radially cut areas or by perforated areas.
