Abstract
1,264,258. Oxazole derivatives. LILLY INDUSTRIES Ltd. 10 Oct., 1970, No. 48239/70. Heading C2C. Novel oxazole derivatives of the Formula I wherein R is C 1-6 alkyl, R<SP>2</SP> is H or C 1-6 alkyl, and R<SP>1</SP> is H 1 C 1-6 alkyl, phenyl or substituted phenyl and additionally when. R<SP>2</SP> is H, R<SP>1</SP> may be CF 3 or COX, where X is C 1-6 alkoxy are prepared by acylating the corresponding 2- amino-oxazoles. 2-Amino-4-methyloxazole is obtained by treating cyanamide with hydroxyacetone. 2-Amino-4-trifluoromethyl oxazole is made by refluxing bromotrifluoroacetone with urea in t-butanol. 2-Amino-4-ethoxycarbonyloxazole hydrochloride is prepared by refluxing ethyl bromopyruvate with urea in ethanol and converting the resulting base to the hydrochloride. Pharmaceutical compositions, having anti-inflammatory activity and suitable for oral, parenteral or rectal administration, contain at least one of the above novel compounds and pharmaceutically acceptable carriers therefor.
