Abstract
1,249,712. Fluid regulation. H.M. HOBSON Ltd. April 17, 1970 [Jan. 20, 1969], No.3118/69. Heading G3H. An assembly for providing a constant flow-rate irrespective of variations in the supply pressure above a predetermined value of the supply pressure, comprises a vortex valve V, a spool valve 15, and a restrictor R 1 . With the pressure P of the supply, not shown, being below the predetermined value, the differential created across the restrictor R 1 is insufficient to move spool 15 against the action of a spring 5 and so all flow from the source takes place along duct portions 30 and 10 with the supply to the vortex valve being at a pressure Ps and the outflow from said valve being at a corresponding pressure Po. Upon the supply pressure exceeding the predetermined value, the differential created across restrictor R 1 causes spool 15 to move against spring 5 thereby opening a passageway 16 which communicates with the duct 30 and with the vortex valve control passage 14. Accordingly, the supply Ps to the vortex valve is modified by the controlling pressure admitted through duct 14 with the result that the pressure of the outflow from the vortex valve is maintained substantially constant. Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), depict modifications of the above assembly.
