Abstract
118,892. Charlton, R., Isaacs, E., and Crawford, J. J. Sept. 15, 1917. Detachable ship structures.-Ships' deck structures are made detachable from the hull for use in saving life, cargo, valuables, &c. The bridge is constructed as shown, and secured to the hull by means of pistons a passing through sleeves band glands d and held by cotters g, packing e<1> being placed between the angles c, e, as shown. When the cotters g are removed, the bridge floats clear of the hull, but is still connected therewith by the cotters g<1>; if necessary, these are removed to free the hull completely.
