Abstract
1184674 Super-conductors COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE THOMSON HOUSTON-HOTCHKISS BRANDT 27 Sept 1967 [27 Sept 1966] 44043/67 Headings H1A and A4D Super-conducting wires 1, each of which is individually sheathed by a normal conductor such as Cu or Al, are placed in juxtaposition and rolled together to form a coherent unit within a normal conducting matrix 2. Wires of normal conductor may also be inserted between the sheathed superconducting wires prior to rolling. A number of these units may be joined together, e.g. by soldering, brazing or electrolytic deposition of a coating of normal conductor around the assembled units, or by binding several of the units to a substrate, e.g. of stainless steel having openings to permit the passage of cooling fluid.
