Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve insulation performance by forming an insulation coat through the lamination of a specific metal coat layer having a specific thickness via an oxide coat layer on a superconducting wire inserted in a metal tube and cooled therein. CONSTITUTION:An oxide coat layer 3a such as copper sulfide and a Cr coat layer 3b of 1mum to 3mum thickness are laminated on the external surface of a superconducting wire 2 composed of Nb3Sn, Nb3Al and the like, thereby forming an insulation coat layer 3. Insulation performance is enhanced with the layer 3b and the layer 3a prevents the diffusion of Cr from the layer 3b, thereby preventing the drop of a residual resistance ratio. Consequently, insulation performance is remarkably enhanced and the alternate current loss of a superconductor is reduced.
