Abstract
1260673 Super-conductors TELCON METALS Ltd 22 April 1969 [23 April 1968] 19112/68 Headings H1A A5 and A4D A composite super-conductor is produced by inserting a wire or rod of super-conductor material into a tube of Cu or Al, cold-drawing to produce a strand having a cross-section allowing plane contact with adjacent strands, packing an outer tube of high conductivity metal with a plurality of such strands and cold-working by drawing and/or rolling to produce a coherent conductor. The strands may have a hexagonal, triangular or square cross-section. The super-conductor material may be a NbTi alloy. The composite structure may be formed into a tape.
