Abstract

The invention consists of a steered rear wheel with a double articulation stem. This stem is connected to the front-center part of the bike by the pivot P1 and the rear wheel by the pivot P2. The jib stands its front end P1 centered in the longitudinal axis of the bike or moped and can move its rear end P2 on an arc, left and right. This movement thus displaces the front part of the wheel allowing it to initiate a turn in the chosen direction. This system brings the dynamic qualities to ensure a better stability and better security. In particular, thanks to the external offset of X 'the contact point on the ground of the wheel relative to G the center of gravity of the assembly.

Description

The present invention relates to the steering by the rear wheel of a bicycle, bicycle or moped with two or three wheels The current bike is for a vast majority directed by the front wheel, which limits the aerodynamic performance and efficiency due the position of the cyclist "sitting-standing" on the saddle; a lot more rare are the bicycles adopting the "lying down" position, although this one brings more performances (the elongated cyclist offers much less resistance to the air, he profits from a better ergonomics favoring his efficiency with the pedaling and of a lower center of gravity). The invention of the recumbent bike is not new but we can also see that these "recumbent" bikes are also embarrassed with a steering wheel before steering does not allow them to exploit all the qualities that could have this type of bike: transmission through the long chain from the front pedal to the rear wheel is losing dynamism; the handlebars and the front wheel travel located between the rider's legs also affect his pedaling efficiency. This is why a direction by the rear wheel is desired because it can eliminate these disadvantages, unfortunately there is no truly satisfactory, the very rare solutions already proven only offer an unstable and unsafe. The invention therefore has the aim of providing a satisfactory solution of a steering rear wheel. This invention consists of a rear wheel directed with a double hinged stem. This bracket has at each end a vertical pivot, the pivot P1 which connects it to the front-central part of the bicycle and the pivot P2 which connects to your steering wheel. The articulation P1, located in the longitudinal axis of the frame and behind the seat of the cyclist, allows to direct * 25 the stem in the chosen direction. The stem rotating on the pivot P1 moves the pivot P2 on an arc. Thus in its displacement the pivot P2 drives the front part of the rear wheel which is located at a forward angle and the opposite side to the direction chosen to complete the turn. (Different angles on the pivot (s) P1 and / or P2 allow various settings). 30 * (using a handlebar, a steering wheel, or cable controls, with rods, hydraulic or motorized) The double pivot of the stem that articulates the steering wheel allows the latter in particular to bring it towards the outside of the turn, thus X 'its point of contact on the ground (along the axis passing through YX' the contact points on the ground of the wheels AV and AR) is also outside the curve. At the same time, the center of gravity of the pilot-machine unit fits within the curve, favoring good cornering support, better stability and more safety. This rear steering wheel can benefit the recumbent bike by improving its dynamic handling characteristics but also its performance by ergonomics, dynamism and aerodynamics: The cyclist 40 can pedal and legs close, closer and in traction on the front wheel (better efficiency: chain or shorter transmission); the front wheel no longer has the steering function and therefore no movement, thus granting a better CX to all. In the same way, the cyclist's "down" position reduces his frontal area by half, spares his efforts, gives him more power with a better back support and a lower center of gravity. Note also that this improved ergonomics also favors the additional use of a fairing that can be even better profiled. The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention: FIG. 1 represents the rear wheel with the device seen from above.

55FIG. 2 shows the rear wheel and the device adapted to a bicycle seen from above and in cross-section. In references to these drawings: P1 the front pivot of the bracket, P2 the rear pivot of the bracket, X and X 'the point ground contact of the rear wheel, Y the ground contact point of the front wheel, G the center of gravity of the machine pilot unit. 55

Claims (2)

70CLAIMS1) Rear steering wheel for bicycles and mopeds with two or three wheels; the invention is characterized by an articulated stem with two pivots, one at each end. The pivot P1 attached to the front-central part of the bike and the other pivot P2 to the front frame of the steering wheel. To steer the rear wheel, the driver of the bicycle or moped wishing to change direction operates a transmission means (handlebars, steering wheel or other) connected to the stem which is rotated on the pivot P1, and the bracket describes an arc with its other end: The pivot P2 articulated to the rear wheel. Moving P2 sideways, the front part of the rear wheel opens an angle forward and away from the turn; its point of contact with the ground also moves towards the outside of the curve. The use of this device with a double articulation of the direction of the rear wheel makes it possible, in particular, to place X 'the point of contact of the rear wheel outside the bend, and G the center of gravity inside. of the axis passing through YX 'the contact points on the ground of the wheels AV and AR. This geometry thus promotes better stability in curves. The driver after making his change of direction relaxes his effort on the handlebars and the wheel then resumes his straight line. 70 2 )Dispositif selon la revendication 1, la potence articulée au niveau du pivot P2 comporte un couple d'engrenages et/ou crémaillère permettant de contraindre l'angle d'ouverture de la roue arrière.2) Device according to claim 1, the articulated stem at the pivot P2 comprises a pair of gears and / or rack to constrain the opening angle of the rear wheel.
